UFLA Teacher of the Year |
Each year the Utah Foreign Language Association recognizes up to three outstanding foreign language teachers as Teacher of the Year: one for Elementary Education, one for Secondary Schools and one for Higher Education. The nominees may teach any language or combination of foreign languages, with a minimum of 3/5 of their teaching responsibilities being carried out within these disciplines. They may teach in public or private institutions at the elementary, secondary or college/university levels. To be considered, nominees must have taught a world language in Utah for a minimum of 3 years. Membership in UFLA is not required, but if selected as Teacher of the Year the candidate must join UFLA. At the discretion of the UFLA Board of Directors, one Teacher of the Year will be the state’s nomination for SWCOLT Teacher of the Year. In order to be considered, nomination information must be received by December 15. The Teacher of the Year agrees to participate in UFLA actifities during the year following the Award. In addition, the nominee for SWCOLT Teacher of the Year will work as mentor for the next year's nominee. |
